On February 21, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, at the Kolkas Livonian Community Center. an event dedicated to the International Tourist Guide Day will take place. The event will feature two POP-UP exhibitions titled «How Interesting!» and «Works of My Life», with a meeting with their author, local guide Dženeta Marinska.

International Tourist Guide Day has been celebrated since 1990, consistently on February 21 each year. Its aim is to popularize the profession of tourist guides, introduce the public to the values of nature and cultural heritage through quality interpretation, including generating interest in less popularized topics, cultural-historical sites, unusual routes, and interesting events.

In alignment with this event, local guide Dženeta Marinska, in collaboration with the Kolkas Livonian Community Center, presents two POP-UP exhibitions.

The exhibition «How Interesting!» is dedicated to Kolka, a place often mentioned in people's conversations due to its geographical location and resonant name. By perusing both old and recent press publications and online resources, intriguing anecdotes about Kolka have been uncovered—stories that the majority of Kolka residents might not have noticed: an April Fool's joke, journalist irony about political debates, and, of course, a story from the life of a well-known Latvian singer.

For over 10 years, Dženeta has been acquainting visitors with the most interesting facts about Kolka. However, guiding is not her sole occupation, certainly not what she dreamed of while sitting in Kolka school. February 21 is also Dženeta's birthday, so she will also share moments from her life in the exhibition «Works of My Life». These will be objects that narrate her professional growth and achievements from school years onwards.

American showbiz star Conan O'Brien once expressed a less than flattering opinion about American guides: «American psychologists have identified 23 body language signs that indicate a person is lying. If you want to see all 23 at once, you should go on a tour with a guide at the White House». Let's remember, he is a comedian.

"I truly hope that the tourists I guide through Kolka don't think the same about me," says Dženeta.

The event's initiator, Dženeta Marinska, will be at the Kolkas Livonian Community Center on February 21 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM to share intriguing stories about Kolka and her life's works.

Visitors to the event can participate in the «Do You Know Kolka?» contest, and the most knowledgeable participants will receive delightful prizes.

Everyone is warmly invited!
